Synchronicities

Synchronicities

Synchronicity - the coincidental occurrence of events, especially psychic events, that seem related but are not explained by conventional mechanisms of causality.

Lucid Dream – A type of dream in which a person who is dreaming realizes they are dreaming during their dream. During a lucid dream, the dreamer may gain some volitional control over the dream characters, narrative, or environment) for the past five weeks.

For the past five weeks, I've been studying lucid dreaming and participating in a dream study group. A few nights ago, I had a lucid dream in which I encountered a giant, human-sized bird standing in a hollow tree while walking along a road. I won't get into specific details other than to say the bird had light gray plumage, human eyes, and a loving presence. In the dream, I felt that the creature was an angel, a thought that persisted after I woke.

I gave Oswald his daily ten-minute ride on the Gator UTV the following morning. When I stopped and stepped out by the back deck, I found a unique, whitish-gray feather at my feet. I immediately got chills. The feather wasn't too large, about 4-5 inches, but the color struck me. It was a unique whitish-gray pearlescent, something I'd never seen before. That's not entirely true, however. It was the same color as the bird creature in my dream!

Of course, our yard is 2.5 acres, and plenty of birds populate the surrounding timber—cardinals, blue jays, red-winged blackbirds, sparrows, finches, robins, and more. We even have doves, and they are gray. But not this shade that I've ever seen. But after all, it was just a bird feather.

That's what happens to most synchronicities. They're filed into the "beens." The "must-have-beens," the "could-have-beens," and the "might-have-beens."

But I gave up ignoring or analyzing synchronicities a long time ago. Believe it or not, this is only the second feather I've found in the eight years we've lived here. I think I should restate that. This is the second feather that has found me since we've lived here. I have a beautiful large hawk feather on a shelf in our library that appeared the year we built the house. I've learned that when a gift is offered, I only need to accept it with an open mind, a grateful heart, and a sincere appreciation.
